Welcome!

Welcome to the Lend A Paw Blog!
Where you can find up to date information about the program, current LAP teams and LAP therapy dogs candidates, scheduled visits, and much more.
Lend A Paw is committed to enhancing the lives of individuals experiencing physical, mental, emotional or life challenges by providing therapy dogs to offer warmth, compassion, unconditional love and a healing environment. The program is designed to rescue dogs from the shelter and train them to be therapy dogs. Individuals are also invited to join our LAP team with their own dogs provided the dogs have the required obedience and temperament for therapy work.

Scheduled Visits - Week of February 21st

There are four scheduled Lend A Paw events for this week:

Tuesday, February 22nd @ 1:00 PM:
Jewish Home for the Aging / Grancell Village
Taper Building
7150 Tampa Ave
Reseda, CA
These older folks look forward to visiting with their furry friends. Please join Gayle and Wickett for this monthly visit. Let's all meet 5 minutes early at the large patio. We'll see you there!

Wednesday, February 23rd @ 10:30 AM:
Santa Clarita Adult Day Health Care
22903 Soledad Canyon Road
Santa Clarita , CA 91350
Our actual start time is 10:45 AM the 4th Wednesday of each month. Please come and visit 20-40 physically and/or mentally challenged adults and bring smiles to their faces. Last month there was only Lexee and I and nearly 40 people wanting licks and love. Hope some of you are willing to make the drive this time.

Wednesday, February 23rd @ 10:30 AM:
Bubbe and Zayde's Place
3317 Oakhust Ave
Los Angeles, CA
This will be our first visit to this small residential care home. There will be about 6 residents so we only need two dogs and handlers for this visit. Hope you can make it!

Saturday, February 26th @ 8:30 AM:
Lend A Paw Certification Workshop
K9s Only
18603 Topham Street
Tarzana, CA
This is a workshop to be tested and certified for Pet Therapy. Current and Potential Volunteers welcome to be tested as handlers for initial or re-certification. Social dogs that are over 1 year old and have obedience training and are spayed/neutered are welcome to be tested. Please contact Sharon for more info or to sign up!
